SpecimenSak

SpecimenSak is a unique specimen request solution which combines a specimen request form with an integral plastic bag, specifically designed to pass through a laser printer.

Plumtree Group have developed SpecimenSak as a solution for the problems commonly associated with traditional ‘bag attached’ request forms. The integral plastic bag, which has been designed to pass through a laser printer, prints form layout, patient and clinical data at the touch of a button.

SpecimenSak is provided as a plain form. The only pre-printed details at manufacture are the instructions on how to use the product. This leaves a completely plain surface that can be laid out to the individual user’s specification, can be freely modified once in use, and easily facilitates the addition of barcodes.

SpecimenSak can be fully integrated with electronic order communications software, electronic patient records and pathology request solutions, allowing request forms to be printed at source.

The Problem:

Utilising the internal order communications system; without creating multiple forms and bags that cause bottlenecks in pathology reception.

The Solution:

SpecimenSak, the European patented laser printable specimen form and bag, enables a request to be printed via a HP laser printer with all the patient ID present, whilst also producing specimen labels for the sample containers. As SpecimenSak includes an integral bag, the requesting consultant can put the sample in, seal and send all in a few seconds. In pathology reception it’s a case of ‘scan and check’ then the system can start processing the tests. With over 500,000 being used per year, SpecimenSak is a qualified success.
